Dimpled Diamond Socks

I like the way the diamond pattern helps bringing out the color changes, and I’m pretty sure I’ll re-use that for later socks. That’s pretty much all I’ll reuse from this particular sock pattern, though. I found their implementation of short-row heels with YOs needlessly complicated (*); the heel turned out square and has weird “stitches” on the inside (which might be just me doing things wrong, though). I might use the sewn bind-off again – but not for this yarn; it started tearing from the sewing. Also, the sock’s not elastic at all. Feels like putting on boots. Oh well, I tried.

(*) I like my short-heels with a german touch; i.e. pulling the yarn back to make my slipped stitch look like 2. Simple, clean. This pattern? Not so much.

RS facing, YO and knit to the first available YO on the far side. The next 2 loops on LN are both YOs. Sl(p) x 2, ret(tw)x2 [i.e. “return twisted” 2 sts, one st at a time], k3tog, joining the 2 reoriented YOs with the next st on LN. Turn

The pattern can be found free on Ravelry under this name. I used the yarn Nordlys (colorway Regnbåge) with 2.5 and 2.0 mm dp needles. Finished on 2021-04-12.
